Distraction: on the cell phone, on GPS…

WHO'S TO BLAME

WE 4 YOU ASTM-SIAS Motorway Operators have provided tunnels with cell phone networks. However, use it responsibly!! While it is a very useful service in case of emergency and an extra comfort for passengers, for drivers talking on the cell phone it entails a chance to be involved in an accident fivefold as high. It is forbidden for drivers to use radio-telephone devices and headphones to listen to music. The use of hand-free devices (including earphones) is allowed as long as drivers maintain their whole ability to hear from both ears and there is no need to use hands to operate them. Stop in a service station to dial numbers, and remember: never read nor write texts while driving!! Choose life. When? Whenever you're driving. What? Never exclude the possibility of unforeseen events. Always manoeuvre your vehicle carefully and pay attention to the movement of obstacles in your scenario. Avoid any distraction due to the use of your cell phone, navigator or other devices. Plan your trip before leaving and stop in a safe place if you need further information. If you need to send a text, stop in full safety in a service station. Whenever in real urgent need, stop in an emergency bay only for the time needed to do what might divert your attention from driving. Why? The motorway system is designed to be very safe, provided that the drivers are attentive. A slight distraction might cost very dear to you and the other users.
