Starting having trouble with your car?

STOP AT A REST AREA!

WE 4 YOU
Stationing on motorway carriageways is very dangerous, and it should be done only in case of extreme emergency. The risk is due to the speed gap between your vehicle (which is stationary) and the vehicles travelling at high speed. This is why motorways include rest areas, parking and emergency bays.
Although the Italian territory is rich in mountains and deep valleys, where this kind of safety feature can be barely provided, we dedicate ourselves and our investments in keeping you safe. In return, you are asked to make use of all the means you are offered. Don't wait until it's too late to find a bay.
Always stop where you are not likely to endanger yourself and the other users.

When? If you have a hunch your vehicle is about to have mechanical problems or if it already has, but it may still go on for a while..
What? Don't run foolish risks! Stop as soon as you can in a safe rest area. Check your vehicle yourself or call the break down service. Use rest areas or parking bays only. In case of real emergency, pull in an emergency bay or, if present, stop along the emergency stopping lane. Do not stop on the carriageway, in a tunnel, or in other place where a stationary vehicle might result in a clear danger.
Why? Remember that if you spot a safe rest area and decide to drive on, you might be unable to reach the next one and be forced to stop on the carriageway, thereby putting your own life and the others' at risk. Consider this possibility as you detect the first signs of malfunction in your vehicle.
