Everybody knows smoking is bad for your health
IT'S EVEN WORSE WHEN YOU DRIVE: TAKE A BREAK AND STOP!
WE 4 YOU
When designing roads, the Operators provide motorway facilities with rest areas, service stations, parking areas and emergency bays located at predetermined distances. Although the Italian territory is rich in mountains and deep valleys, where this kind of safety feature can be barely provided, we dedicate ourselves and our investments in keeping you safe. In return, you are asked to make use of all the means you are offered. Don't distract your attention, because you may become a danger for yourself and the others. Choose life. Consider that when you are distracted to take a cigarette, light it up, etc. this entails a diversion of your attention that might result in accidents. Furthermore, in the event of a collision, airbags inflate in 30/50 milliseconds at more than 300 km/h and might project your head backwards. Therefore, it is imperative that your headrest is appropriately regulated. During a crash, anything you may be holding in your hand (e.g. pipes, cigars, cigarettes, pens, etc) will be hitting you violently, or even worse will be piercing through your body. In the event of an accident with airbag deployment you risk swallowing a lit cigarette or get burnt by it. Why should you risk so much for something so stupid? Have a break.
When?
Anytime when you drive
What?
Never exclude the possibility of unexpected events. Be extremely careful in any manoeuvre you make and pay attention to the obstacles you encounter over your scenario.
Even if you're not interested in the fact that lung cancer affects smokers 20 times more than non-smokers, you'd rather think of road safety. Don't be distracted to light a cigarette while driving. If you can't do without, stop in a safe place like a service station, and have a break.
Why?
Motorway systems are very safe provided that drivers are attentive. A small distraction may cost very dear to yourself and the other users. Remember that cigarettes increase the dangers you are exposed to in the event of collisions and airbag deployment.
